Thomas J. Errico, M.D.
Pediatric and Adult Scoliosis and Spinal Deformity Surgery
Dr. Errico is the Chief of the Division of Spine Surgery within the NYUHJD Department of Orthopedic Surgery and is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic and Neurosurgery in the New York University School of Medicine. The Division of Spine Surgery is one of the largest centers for dedicated Spine Surgery in the world. Although running such a large service is a time consuming effort Dr. Errico not only maintains a busy clinical practice within the Medical Center but also a user friendly community style office in New Jersey.
Dr. Errico has served in National and International Organizations over his career. He has been the past president of the North American Spine Society as well as the National Association of Spine Surgeons. He currently on the Board of Directors of the World Spine Society which will meet in Istanbul Turkey this year. He is also Treasurer and on the Board of Directors of the Spine Arthroplasty Society which had its 2007 meeting in Berlin, Germany.
Academically Dr. Errico has editored numerous textbooks, authored chapters, scientific journal articles. He has been and remains an ”in demand” speaker on spinal surgery both domestically and internationally. As a consultant to industry he has been instrumental in the development of many of the modern spinal implants presently in use and under development. He has participated in multi-institutional investigational studies including the Spine Patient Outcomes Research Trial and the Pro Disc Lumbar Total Disc Replacement FDA trial. Currently he is the national principal investigator for the Flexicore Lumbar Total Disc Replacement Trial as well as Consultant to Stryker Corporation for their Cervicore Cervical Total Disc Replacement Trial.
With over twenty years experience as an academic spine surgeon his surgical expertise has dealt with complicated pediatric and adult conditions of scoliosis, kyphosis, stenosis, trauma, tumors, and infections of the spinal column.
